Residencies

CGAIE’s professional artists are available to come to your school for a variety of choices in residencies, special projects, staff development workshops, after-school art clubs and other projects.

The goal of AIE artists is to introduce and engage students in art projects not ordinarily available, while remaining relative to their classroom curriculum.

The cost is $625 for a 20-hour week, or $35 per hour for Special Projects, plus materials and transportation. AIE is also offering a new Sequential Residency option for 2006-08, which is a one-day a week for five weeks residency for $750, plus materials and transportation. Schools frequently fund these programs through their PTO, fundraisers, Title I funds, or grants from private and corporate foundations.

CGAIE Artists teach the following disciplines:

• Visual Arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, clay and print-making)
• Literary Arts (poetry and prose)
• Performing Arts (dance, music and drama)
• Other CGAIE programs include Architects in the Schools, folk arts through the Oregon Folklife Program, and film-making through the NW Film Study Center.

We recommend scheduling residencies in the fall, or applying no later than November 15th for a spring residency. AIE Artists are typically very busy in the spring and if you wait too long, you may not get your first or second choice!

Please read the following guidelines carefully…they reflect our commitment to providing the highest quality arts experiences at the lowest costs for students in our schools and communities.

• for anywhere from 1-9 weeks
• for 45-60 minutes per class, 5 days per week.

• in the presence of their classroom teacher
